On December 14, 2024, TAF Africa Global Limited was honored as the Affordable Housing Company of the Year at the Africa Housing Awards in Abuja, Nigeria. Known for its dedication to providing high-quality, cost-effective housing throughout Africa, the company's initiatives have made significant strides in addressing the housing deficit while establishing new benchmarks for both affordability and sustainability. The #greatertafcity, developed by TAF Africa Global—Africa's leading affordable housing provider—is more than just a housing estate; it represents a fully planned new city in #portharcourt, Rivers State, #nigeria. With a vision of constructing 20,000 #affordablehomes, this innovative project has progressed at an impressive pace, with essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, water supply, and electricity already completed in just one year.
TAF Africa Global's mission is to construct one million homes across sub-Saharan Africa, tackling the pressing housing crisis facing the continent due to rapid population growth, rampant urbanization, and increasing construction costs. The rise of unplanned informal settlements across Africa highlights the urgency of this challenge. "The estimated housing deficit in Africa stands at around 58 million units, with nearly 52 million of those needing to be affordable," states Mustapha Njie, CEO of TAF. As the head of TAF Africa Global Limited (TAG), Njie is deeply aware of the continent's housing trends and leads one of Africa's most prominent indigenous real estate firms. Since its inception in The Gambia 32 years ago, TAG has committed itself to addressing Africa's housing crisis, with a goal to build one million homes in sub-Saharan Africa over the next two decades. From a modest carpenter to a widely recognized CEO, Njie has developed his construction expertise through stints at Balfour Beatty Construction International Ltd and Ceesay Construction Company Ltd in The Gambia. "After accumulating over 13 years of experience with leading international construction firms and obtaining a site management qualification from the Crown Agents Training Centre in Hove, UK, I decided to establish my own company, TAF Africa Global, in 1990," he shares. Initially registered as TAF Construction Company LTD, the firm rebranded as TAF Africa Global Limited (TAG) in 2017, with its parent company situated in Dubai, UAE. Today, Njie leads what is widely regarded as "the best private real estate developer in the industry." With a strong presence in eight African nations, TAG has become a household name, especially in The Gambia and Nigeria.
