HAMILTON - HOMICIDE - Authorities have reported that a 21-year-old woman, who was tragically shot and killed on Hamilton Mountain on Thursday, April 17, was an innocent bystander.

The deceased was identified as a student at Mohawk College. Emergency responders reached the location near Upper James Street and Mohawk Road at approximately 7:30 PM.

Upon arrival, they discovered a woman suffering from what emergency medical services characterized as "penetrating trauma." She was subsequently transported to a nearby trauma center in critical condition but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Witnesses at the scene informed CHCH News that they heard gunfire prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Currently, law enforcement does not have any information regarding a suspect or a description of a vehicle.
