During a press conference on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Joy Edelduok, revealed that the command generated ₦38,105,987,915.00 in revenue for the first quarter of 2025, a significant increase from ₦23,668,056,535.00 in the same quarter of 2024—an increase of ₦14.4 billion, equating to a 61% rise.

"This increase is attributed to our effective revenue collection strategies and the unwavering commitment of our officers in tackling smuggling and illicit trade," she stated.

Comptroller Edelduok underscored the command's dedication to engaging stakeholders through an open-door policy, which aims to build positive relationships and promote compliance.

In discussing the command's enforcement successes, the CAC announced the seizure of nine 40-foot containers filled with expired pharmaceutical products, in violation of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.

She elaborated, "These containers have been abandoned, and all the drugs within are expired. We conducted a thorough examination to confirm that they are all controlled substances. Consequently, we are transferring them to NAFDAC for further action."

Oluwaseun Ogunjimi, representing the Director of the Port Inspection Directorate of NAFDAC, praised the NCS's efforts. He reaffirmed NAFDAC's commitment to fighting counterfeit and substandard medications. "Many of these drugs are prescription-only, and should not be used indiscriminately. As Customs hands them over to us, we will forward them to our enforcement unit for appropriate measures," he concluded.
