Abdulrahman Bello, the alleged murderer of Hafsoh Lawal, along with his accomplices, appeared before the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Tuesday to begin their trial.

According to reports from ROYAL NEWS, Bello was escorted to the courtroom in a white Toyota Hilux bus, accompanied by heavily armed operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS). He was joined in the proceedings by several co-defendants: Ahmed Abdulwasiu, 41, from Zone C, No. 47 Adualere Area, Ilorin; Suleiman Muyideen, 28, a businessman from Neolife, No. 7 Adualere Area, Amilere Milengbe, Ilorin; Jamiu Uthman, 29, a phone repair technician from Adualere Area, Ilorin; and Abdulrahmon Jamiu, 31, a farmer from Elemere Village near Malete Town in the Moro Local Government Area.
With the case now under the purview of the Kwara State Government, the prosecution team was led by Barr. Senior Sulyman, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. During the court session, it was revealed that the DSS has completed its investigation and recommended the suspects be returned to Oke-Kura prison. Consequently, Justice Hannah Ajayi ordered that the defendants be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) and scheduled the next hearing for Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
