Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Donald Trump to visit the war-affected nation prior to engaging in any peace negotiations with Russia. He emphasized the tragic loss of civilian lives, referencing the recent missile attack in Sumy that resulted in the deaths of 34 individuals, including two children.

Although Trump denounced the attack in Sumy as "horrible," his administration is still actively pursuing ceasefire discussions with Moscow. This approach has drawn criticism from European leaders, who have characterized the strike as a war crime and have raised doubts about Russia's commitment to genuine peace efforts.

The situation has become more strained as Kyiv has rejected a U.S. military aid proposal that was contingent on Ukraine's mineral resources. Concurrently, Trump's representatives have engaged in multiple meetings with Putin, raising concerns regarding transparency and the integrity of Ukraine's territorial sovereignty.
