Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has alleged that former President Muhammadu Buhari did not wish for President Bola Tinubu to take over his position.

Galadima further claimed that Buhari initiated the formation of a subcommittee to revise the All Progressives Congress (APC) constitution to ensure he would not be included as a member of the party's Board of Trustees.

In a recent interview, Galadima asserted that Tinubu recognized Buhari's intentions and chose not to act on the directive that was historically significant.

The NNPP leader emphasized that it was evident Buhari did not want Tinubu to succeed him. He suggested that Tinubu was aware of Buhari's maneuvers but, in his capacity as a statesman, opted to remain silent on the matter.

He stated, "Let me explain what Tinubu did regarding me. According to the APC constitution, the secretaries of the parties, including CPC and ACN, should be part of the Board of Trustees and the National Working Committee to preserve institutional memory.

"When Buhari encountered me, he expressed his desire to keep me away from any involvement. Consequently, he established a subcommittee to revise the constitution, appointing President Bola Tinubu as its chairman.

"Tinubu discerned Buhari's ulterior motives. As of now, the committee has yet to convene, submit any findings, or amend the constitution. This was part of the reason why Buhari did not want him to become president—because he refused to exclude me.

"For the last twelve years, the Board of Trustees of the APC has not convened, and the National Working Committee met only two or three times during Buhari's tenure. They were determined to avoid my presence, which ultimately led to my departure.

When further questioned about Buhari's reluctance for Tinubu to succeed him, he remarked, "Is there anyone unaware of this? Tinubu himself is cognizant of it. However, out of his generosity as a statesman, he chooses not to express his true feelings."
