Sikh extremists in South Surrey, whose machine guns were confiscated by the police, were acquaintances of Jagmeet Singh, which may explain the lack of charges against the party attendees. Having political connections seems to be advantageous, unlike for the group from Coutts.

Upon learning of the video on Thursday, the Surrey RCMP South Community Response Unit initiated an investigation and subsequently verified the location where the recording occurred, as stated by the police to True North. Once the address was confirmed, "a Criminal Code investigation was launched, and the property owner was contacted," according to police. Around 5:30 PM, SCRU seized "several firearms" from the property owner. The investigation to identify the individuals featured in the video is ongoing, with police noting that "no charges have been filed yet.

" The footage displays several men wearing turbans and women in traditional South Asian attire dancing with firearms near a child at what seems to be a wedding. The videographer can be seen extending his arm while holding what appears to be a semiautomatic rifle with his finger on the trigger. "This incident was understandably alarming to the wider community," remarked Harm Dosange, Surrey RCMP's community services officer. "Public safety is our primary concern, and our officers acted swiftly to seize the firearms involved." A police spokesperson stated that the SCRU will engage with various partner agencies to speed up the investigation. The video was first shared on Facebook by Harjit Singh Pattar, the owner of Pattar Farm, before it caught the attention of Canadians worried about potential gang and gun violence. Pattar's Facebook page still features images of a firearms collection. A post discovered by a user on X, known as "Brattani," shows Pattar alongside Gerpatwant Singh, a Khalistani separatist associated with Sikhs for Justice. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization, with its leader recognized as a terrorist by the Indian government. In 2022, Interpol rejected India's request to issue an international terror alert for Singh due to a lack of evidence regarding his global threat level. A separate video, which has since been removed from Pattar's TikTok account, showcased the farm owner posing with firearms, shooting them into the air over a field, and included a photo of an extensive gun collection. The Surrey RCMP is urging anyone with information on the incident or the identities of those in the video to contact them at 604-599-0502 and reference "file 2024-112686."
