In response to the escalating crisis between the rival communities of Ilobu and Ifon, Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has authorized an extension of the curfew to the town of Erin-Osun. The curfew will now be in effect 24 hours a day. In addition, the Governor has instructed all security agencies—including the Military, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Immigration Service, NDLEA, and AMOTEKUN—to increase their security presence in the area. These agencies are responsible for ensuring strict adherence to the curfew, which will remain intact until peace is restored.

This curfew is intended to prevent further escalation of the conflict and to maintain law and order amid the ongoing clashes in the communities.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, Governor Adeleke expressed his disappointment at the resurgence of violence between the two communities. The curfew affecting the Ifon-Ilobu areas has now been extended to Erin-Osun until further notice. Governor Adeleke expressed sorrow over the recent communal clashes, stating, "To effectively address the crisis in the region, I have approved an extension of the curfew to the Erin-Osun community, which is now in effect 24 hours daily, starting today, March 22, 2025, until further notice.
" The Governor has also called on the joint security team—including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Immigration Service, NSCDC, NDLEA, and AMOTEKUN—to continue enforcing round-the-clock surveillance to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He conveyed his condolences for the lives and property lost during the recent escalations, affirming that those responsible will face legal consequences. Osun State is known for its peace and harmony, and the government is committed to preserving this. The ongoing communal conflict must end, and steps will be taken to ensure it does. The Governor urges everyone to embrace the principles of Omoluabi, fostering peaceful coexistence as a united community.
