Our objective is to establish the most robust economy within the G7. We must address the tariffs imposed by President Trump. Canadians deserve the opportunity to choose who will lead this initiative for our nation.

Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced a snap election scheduled for April 28.

The former Governor of the Bank of England emphasizes the necessity of a clear mandate to confront Donald Trump, asserting that the US president "aims to undermine us so that America can dominate us."

Previously, Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party, presented his campaign strategy, stating he would engage with the US as a "respectful, firm, and strong" leader.

This announcement comes in the context of a deteriorating relationship with the US, as Trump continues a trade conflict with Canada and has expressed a desire for Canada to become the 51st state.

Carney, representing the Liberal Party, will contend with Pierre Poilievre of the Conservatives, Jagmeet Singh of the New Democratic Party, and Yves-François Blanchet of the Bloc Québécois.

Carney advocates for a snap election, asserting, "We must prioritize our own interests."

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has launched a critique against Carney, stating that he is not the suitable choice for Canada.

"When challenges arise, he will not take action; he will withdraw," Singh remarks regarding Carney.

He claims that Carney favors the affluent over everyday Canadians.

"Only New Democrats can be relied upon to advocate for you," Singh asserts.

Singh, along with all candidates, emphasizes that Canada will not become the "51st state."
