The conflicts between the Ifon and Ilobu communities intensified on Saturday, extending to the Erin Osun area.

In response, Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared a 24-hour curfew for the affected regions. This follows an earlier 12-hour curfew that was implemented due to the violence, which has led to the displacement of numerous residents from Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun.

On Saturday, many displaced individuals were seen on the streets of Okinni, with some, particularly those from northern regions, departing the area via buses.

A statement from Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for the Osun Governor, outlined the measures being taken to prevent further conflict escalation. It stated, "Governor Ademola Adeleke has intensified efforts to de-escalate the Ifon-Ilobu conflict by imposing a 24-hour curfew, deploying a joint security task force, and facilitating a peace agreement between the two communities in conflict.

"We assure the residents of Ilobu and Ifon that I am dedicated to ensuring their safety and protecting their properties. I have informed the state's leadership about the developments. We are managing the situation effectively.

"Additionally, we want to alert the public that certain opposition groups are disseminating outdated videos of past communal conflicts in various parts of Osun state to create a misleading narrative of insecurity in the region.

"While the current conflict is unfortunate and efforts are underway to halt the violence, we urge the public to remain vigilant against the activities of those spreading false information."
