OPP seize 50,000 unmarked cigarettes during traffic stop.

A 69-year-old Thessalon man was charged with speeding and possession of unmarked cigarettes following a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Magnetawan First Nation on March 14. Police stopped the vehicle for traveling 124 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

The subsequent search resulted in the seizure of approximately 50,000 unmarked cigarettes. The driver received a summons to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on July 15.  His name was not released as per OPP policy because the charges are provincial offences, not criminal code charges.  The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
