The former governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England succeeded Justin Trudeau during a ceremony held at Rideau Hall on Friday.

Although Carney is not presently a member of Parliament, he is anticipated to pursue a parliamentary seat in the near future, which has sparked discussions regarding the potential for a snap election.
