According to intelligence sources who spoke to security expert Zagazola Makama, Okparaejesi, who had resided in Colombia for over 12 years, was arrested upon arriving from São Paulo, Brazil, after a thorough investigation by the Dijín (Colombian police intelligence unit) and the Attorney General's Office. Despite presenting himself as a businessman in the beauty sector, he allegedly managed large cocaine shipments destined for Spain. Authorities have reported that he financed drug acquisitions and managed operations that involved human couriers and specially designed double-bottom suitcases for smuggling narcotics. His arrest was made possible due to intelligence gathered from a detained drug mule heading to Spain, who provided information about Okparaejesi's network. Following this significant development, 15 additional individuals connected to his operations have also been apprehended. Investigations reveal that Okparaejesi married a Colombian woman in 2012 at the Nuestra Señora de Fátima parish in Bogotá. He reportedly operated a hair extension business called "Nigeria African," situated near Ciudad de Cali Avenue. A close associate of Okparaejesi informed El Tiempo that he seldom left Colombia, making trips to Africa approximately every two years to visit relatives. "The last time we spoke, he mentioned he was in Ghana," the associate noted. The Colombian National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (INPEC) has confirmed his arrest, and he faces charges related to drug trafficking, production, and distribution.
