China has issued a stern warning to the US, stating that it is prepared for "any type of war" in response to President Donald Trump's plans to impose further tariffs. The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy have both declared that they are "ready to fight till the end".¹ ²

The escalating tensions between the two nations come after Trump announced plans to dramatically increase tariffs, including "reciprocal tariffs" and non-tariff measures aimed at addressing long-standing trade imbalances. China has responded by imposing its own tariffs on US goods, including a 15% tariff on popular products such as chicken, wheat, and corn.

China's Foreign Ministry has accused the Trump administration of "blackmail" and stated that "intimidation does not scare us. Bullying does not work on us. Pressuring, coercion or threats are not the right way of dealing with China".

The Chinese Ambassador to the US reinforced this stance, repeating the statement that China is "ready to fight till the end" if the US seeks conflict. This warning comes as concerns grow over potential trade wars that could slow economic growth and drive up costs for Americans.

The ongoing trade tensions between the US and China have been escalating since Trump's first term, with both nations imposing tariffs on each other's goods. The situation remains volatile, with China urging the US to consult with them as equals to resolve the issues.

In a statement, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that China has taken robust steps to assist the US in dealing with the fentanyl issue, but instead of recognizing these efforts, the US has sought to smear and shift blame to China.

The spokesperson also warned that the US's actions will undermine their counternarcotics dialogue and cooperation. The situation continues to unfold, with both nations refusing to back down.
