A black diamond is a rare/ not common,  distinct, and  dark type of diamond made of carbon.  They are also  called carbonates.
How they are made:
Black diamonds are made of carbon, graphite, and other  minerals.
They form when smaller crystals  coalesce.
Inclusions of graphite, magnetite, and hematite give black diamonds their dark  color.
Black diamonds can also be treated with heat and radiation to darken their  color.
Where they are found:
Black diamonds are found in alluvial deposits in equatorial regions,  such as Central Africa and  Brazil.
What they are used  for:
Black diamonds are used in jewelry  such as engagement rings, bracelets, pendants, and  earrings.
They are well-known in fashion and are often seen on red carpets and at award  ceremonies.
What makes them special:
Black diamonds are one of the  hardest forms of natural  diamonds, measuring 10 on the Mohs  hardness scale.
They have a high luster and can appear  metallic.
