North  America's first solar  community, located nearby, is  nearing completion, nearly 20  years later.
In 2006, a  52-home community was built to be powered by  solar energy.
Fast forward  to now, and  they're shutting down the project  due to significant financial losses,  $150,000 a year  in maintenance costs,  $4.1 million if they want to rebuild it, and it will cost  $2.2 million to  dismantle it 🤦🏼
So the results of  this "experiment" are millions  of dollars in additional costs, costs to taxpayers,  lower property  values, most residents  have already  switched to natural gas  anyway, and someone in China  has gotten rich.
