Premier Danielle Smith of Alberta referred to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's resignation as "irresponsible" and "selfish," claiming it coincides with important U.S. negotiations. During their leadership contest, Smith called the Liberals' lack of a mandate and self-serving paralysis of Parliament one of Canada's most reckless actions.
