Ondo Election: PDP deputy governorship candidate Akingbaso claims that thugs have invaded Idanre.

During the present governorship race, Mr. Festus Akingbaso, the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate for deputy governor of Ondo State, has expressed worries over an inflow of thugs in Idanre Local Government Area.

After casting his ballot at Polling Unit 005, Oke Imikan, Akingbaso, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, informed reporters of this.

The legislator said he was pleased with the number of voters and the security measures at his polling station, but he was concerned about allegations of thugs reportedly interfering with the local election process.

"The security situation here is respectable, and the voter turnout is not awful. Since INEC has performed satisfactorily thus far, I would want to express my gratitude. But my recommendation to voters is that they ought to remain behind and observe the processes until the final results are declared after casting their votes. I'm sure my party will win if everything goes according to plan," Akingbaso said.

He did, however, voice concerns over claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had sent goons into Idanre.

According to information I've received, thugs purportedly imported by the APC have taken over multiple villages. According to reports, villages including Allah, Omifunfun, and Ofosun are occupied. Suspected thugs have congregated in big numbers in Igbepo, according to Akingbaso.

He also described an incidence in Ofosun where a PDP member was allegedly prevented from voting by suspected thugs breaking into their home.

Plans to deny voters the right to vote in these villages have been communicated to us. Given that There have been claims that the APC brought in goons on Friday. Unfortunately, the security services have not yet taken any significant action despite my reporting the issue to the DPO and DSS," he continued.

In order to guarantee a smooth election process in the impacted areas, the PDP candidate for deputy governor urged security services to take action.
