WTVD, CARY, North Carolina — A portion of I-40 westbound was stopped Tuesday morning near Cary due to a deadly collision.

Around five in the morning, it occurred close to US 1 (Exit 293). A pedestrian was struck by a car and died, the Watch Commander informed ABC11.


The motorist remained at the scene after the incident, according to the Raleigh Police Department.


In a few hours, I-40 should reopen.
