Breaking: Blaine Higgs, the premier of New Brunswick, has lost both the election and his seat.

The province's majority government will be formed by the New Brunswick Liberal Party. New Brunswick's next premier will be Susan Holt.

But in my opinion, BC provides a far more accurate gauge of the strength of the conservative movement in Canada. Significant progress is being made, and there is strong momentum.

Higgs and the Progressive Conservatives lost in New Brunswick for the following reasons:

The premier is stale; fans aren't really motivated to vote for him or the party because he has been in office for a time.

There was a lot of incentive to vote against him; leftists were particularly driven to oppose Higgs and his administration.

A mutiny by six ministers in the cabinet against Higgs After opposing Higgs on his parental rights policy 713, they either left or were removed. Had they all offered their support, or at least refrained from openly revolting, the outcome most likely would have been different. When a leader is unable to maintain the trust of their cabinet, how can they inspire the trust of voters?

Casting ballots based on language The NB Liberal Party is frequently supported by French citizens, whereas the Progressive Conservatives are frequently supported by English voters. But it appears that the NB Liberals were able to get support from English voters this time. It will be intriguing to observe a thorough postmortem.

Higgs and his administration are resented by some conservative and right-leaning citizens for a number of reasons, including the economics, lockdowns, environmental management, particularly with regard to chemical spraying and neurological problems, etc)
