Until the US presidential election in November, tech billionaire Elon Musk has promised to donate $1 million (£766,000) every day to a registered voter in Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state.

Musk's campaign group AmericaPAC, which he established to back Republican nominee Donald Trump's run for reelection, would select the winner at random from among people who sign a pro-constitution petition.

At a town hall session on Saturday night, a startled-looking guest received the first lottery-style check.

In the heated last weeks of the presidential contest leading up to the November 5 vote, the offer will successfully aid in motivating potential Trump supporters to participate in the campaign.

Signatories to the petition, which promises to defend free speech and gun rights, will be asked for their contact information, which may enable AmericaPAC to get in touch with them over their vote.

In the past, Musk promised to pay $47 to anyone who could get a swing-state voter who was registered to sign the petition.

Slate claims that even if money was being inserted into a process that may identify potential Trump voters, this was permitted by US election law because no one was being paid to cast a ballot.

Offering money to encourage someone to vote—not only for a particular candidate, but just to cast a ballot—is prohibited in the United States.

Ben & Jerry's, an ice cream manufacturer, gave out its product as a result of the rule Originally intended to be restricted to people wearing a "I voted" sticker, it was made available to everyone on election day in 2008.

In July, Musk, who has become a prominent Trump booster in recent years, established AmericaPAC to aid the former president's campaign.

The organization, which has swiftly emerged as a key figure in Trump's election campaign, has received $75 million (£57.5 million) from him so far.

For voter outreach, the Trump campaign heavily depends on outside organizations like AmericaPAC.

"America PAC was founded to support these core values: Secure Borders, Safe Cities, Sensible Spending, Fair Justice System, Free Speech, and Right to Self-Protection," the group's website states.

Musk stated that he hopes to garner "more than a million, possibly two million, voters." in the states where the First and Second Amendments are being contested to sign the petition.

He continued, "I believe [it] sends a crucial message to our elected politicians."

With an estimated net worth of $248 billion (£191 billion), Musk is currently the richest man in the world, according to US business magazine Forbes.

Pennsylvania is anticipated to be one of seven crucial battleground states in the 2024 presidential election, along with Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada.
