The Northeast Monsoon is very intense across Tamil Nadu, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday. There is a chance of severe to extremely heavy rainfall in one or two locations in the districts of Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chennai. "In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in one or two places in the districts of Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chennai," added the senior scientist. "This does not imply that there will be heavy to extremely heavy rains throughout the regions. It is advised that fishermen avoid going into the sea in certain regions."
