Mr. Pierre Poilievre has emphasized the necessity of a free and fair dialogue with Prime Minister Mark Carney, citing concerns that after a strong rhetoric, Carney appears to be taking a more reserved approach. The Conservative party is committed to collaborating with all parties to prioritize Canada's interests and promote the well-being of its citizens.

Prior to the election, Carney had indicated a more assertive stance, promising to finalize a deal by July 21. However, since taking office, he has adopted a more cautious approach, failing to secure any significant agreements with the United States. In fact, tariffs have increased, affecting various Canadian industries and ultimately, the country's economy. This shift in approach has been perceived as a sign of weakness, potentially emboldening the Chinese government to impose higher tariffs on Canadian exports, particularly impacting farmers and fish harvesters.

The lack of progress in negotiations has raised concerns about Carney's ability to fulfill his commitments, including his promise to robustly negotiate with the United States. Instead of addressing the challenges faced by Canadians, such as housing, immigration, crime, and taxes, Carney's approach has had detrimental effects on the country. A more effective strategy would have involved implementing a sovereignty act to enhance infrastructure, such as pipelines and ports, and promoting market access beyond North America.

Furthermore, a focus on homebuilding could have provided an opportunity to leverage domestic resources and stimulate economic growth. A proposed agreement with the United States could have included commitments to strengthen military capabilities, secure borders, and combat drug trafficking, while promoting free and open trade that benefits both nations. Unfortunately, Carney's approach has been marked by unfulfilled threats and concessions without tangible gains.

In light of these concerns, Mr. Poilievre has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Carney to engage in a collaborative dialogue. The Conservative party is willing to work with Carney and the Liberals to achieve a fair deal with the United States, prioritizing Canada's interests and promoting the well-being of its citizens. By working together, it is possible to address the challenges faced by Canadians and promote a more prosperous and secure future for the country.
