A man passes away in a SE Calgary motel following his detention.

After being detained by police for an alleged disturbance at a motel in southeast Calgary early on Tuesday morning, a man has passed away.


Officers were called to the Carriage House Hotel and Conference Centre on Macleod Trail SE just before one in the morning on complaints of a man who was acting strangely and wouldn't leave.


A man was acting strangely in the front foyer when the police arrived.

Police in Calgary claim that despite their attempts to defuse the situation, the individual refused to cooperate.


During a tussle, one of the police officers deployed a taser on the individual.

According to the police, the individual persisted in acting aggressively toward them, and one of them even deployed pepper spray.
