"The ongoing trade negotiations between Canada and the United States have highlighted the importance of mutually beneficial agreements. The Government of Alberta has consistently maintained that tariffs on U.S. goods can have detrimental effects on Canadian citizens and businesses, just as U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods can impact American citizens and businesses. The recent decision to remove retaliatory tariffs on CUSMA-compliant U.S. goods is a positive step forward in these negotiations.

Through sustained diplomatic efforts, Alberta has engaged with numerous U.S. governors, senators, members of Congress, and other officials, including the President, to promote cooperation and shared priorities. This approach has helped ensure that the majority of Alberta's exports remain tariff-free.

To further strengthen Canada's economy, it is essential to diversify and expand export markets. To achieve this, the federal government should review and potentially repeal regulations that hinder resource development, such as those related to net zero power, oil and gas production limits, tanker bans, and measures under C-69. By doing so, Canada can unlock the full potential of its natural resource sector and enhance economic growth.

The federal government is encouraged to continue negotiating with the United States to resolve remaining tariff issues and work toward a free and fair trade agreement that benefits both nations. By fostering a more open and cooperative trade environment, Canada can promote economic prosperity and opportunity for its citizens and businesses."
