At approximately midnight on Friday, August 15, 2025, police were notified by Calgary Transit that one of their bus drivers had been attacked. The driver reported that three youths exited the bus at the Rundle CTrain station, struck the side of the bus, and then allegedly pointed a firearm at her.

Officers swiftly located the youths and halted a southbound train at the Rundle CTrain station before it departed. Three individuals were taken into custody, and during the incident, two replica firearms and one knife were confiscated.

Two 11-year-olds were arrested in connection with the assault. Under the Criminal Code of Canada, a child under the age of 12 cannot be charged with a criminal offense and they were subsequently released into the care of their parents.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, using a weapon to commit an offense, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and concealing a weapon.

The identity of the youth cannot be disclosed in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Youth-related crime in Calgary has decreased by approximately 9% compared to the previous year. However, it is still 6% above the five-year average. The rate of violent offenses committed by youth remains consistent with 2024 levels, but there has been a 17% increase compared to the five-year average, mostly attributed to assaults and robberies.
