DPM Prasad has opened a new $3.5 million air terminal services employees trust building.

The Honorable Professor Biman Prasad, Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, recently presided over the opening ceremony of the new Air Terminal Services Employees Trust (ATSET) building in Lautoka's central business district. The $3.5 million investment represents a significant stride for the trust, as it provides a three-storey commercial property with two levels of office space and an executive apartment on the top floor.

In his address, Professor Prasad praised ATSET for its strategic outlook and commitment to its members' financial security. He emphasized that the project transcends a mere property acquisition, serving as a testament to the trust's dedication to yielding constant returns and fostering long-term benefits for its employee shareholders. The Deputy Prime Minister's comments underscored the government's support for initiatives that empower workers to partake in the wealth generated by their efforts.

Furthermore, Prasad acknowledged the crucial role of Air Terminal Services (ATS) within Fiji's economy, particularly in the context of the country's flourishing tourism sector. With Fiji achieving a record 982,938 visitors in 2024, he highlighted the necessity of complementary investments that align with the nation's overarching development goals.

The event showcased the collaborative spirit between the government and the private sector, as both parties work towards bolstering Fiji's economic growth and ensuring that its benefits are equitably distributed among the workforce. The Coalition Government's focus on inclusive prosperity was echoed in Prasad's assertion that employees should not only receive wages but also partake in the wealth creation process. The ATSET's investment exemplifies this vision, demonstrating how collective action and strategic planning can enhance the lives of workers and their families.
