The West Interlake RCMP have made a significant seizure following a traffic stop for speeding. The incident occurred on July 23, 2025, at approximately 1:48 AM on Highway 6 in the Rural Municipality of Coldwell. The vehicle was clocked at 157 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, prompting officers to pull the vehicle over. Upon conducting the stop, the police found three occupants in the car, who were all taken into custody.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, several cellular phones, and approximately $20,000 in Canadian currency, along with various drug-related items. As a result, the 44-year-old female driver from Winnipeg was issued a $796 speeding ticket and had her vehicle impounded. She was also served with a serious offence notice and is awaiting a court appearance on charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The two female passengers who were with the driver were released without any charges being filed. However, the investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and it is possible that further charges or arrests may be made as more evidence comes to light. The West Interlake RCMP detachments in Lundar and Ashern are likely to be involved in the ongoing case, working to determine the full extent of the criminal activity and the origins of the seized items.

This event underscores the importance of traffic stops in uncovering and combating larger criminal operations, as what began as a simple speeding infraction turned into a significant drug and property seizure. The public is reminded to adhere to traffic laws not only for their own safety but also to assist law enforcement in maintaining the safety of the community.
