Severe Weather Alert Issued for Alberta on Thursday, July 24, 2025

Environment Canada has issued a high weather threat advisory for parts of Alberta, predicting a high risk of severe weather conditions on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Areas within the orange "High weather threat" region, including Red Deer, are expected to experience intense weather phenomena.

Residents in the affected regions can anticipate wind gusts of 90-110km/h, hailstones measuring 3-5cm in diameter, and heavy rainfall of up to 30mm. This severe weather system has the potential to cause significant disruptions to daily activities and poses a risk to property and public safety.

In addition, several other regions in Alberta have been placed under a yellow "Moderate weather threat" zone, including Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Lloydminster, and High Level. These areas can expect wind gusts of 90-100km/h, hailstones measuring 2-3cm in diameter, and rainfall totals of up to 30mm.
