The RCMP Central Traffic Services made a significant drug seizure on July 17, 2025, at around 9:45 pm on Highway 17 in the Rural Municipality of Fisher. The incident began with a traffic stop due to a vehicle exceeding the speed limit by 39 km/h. The vehicle was clocked at 139 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Upon pulling the vehicle over, officers found reason to investigate further, which led to the arrest of the 23-year-old male driver from Bowmanville, Ontario. During the search, they discovered approximately 160 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, along with drug-related items, all concealed within a speaker in the vehicle. This substantial find suggests that the individual may have been involved in drug trafficking activities.

The driver is now facing a serious charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Additionally, due to providing a positive oral fluid sample for both cannabis and cocaine, he was issued a $561 fine for speeding and had his license suspended. He was released at the scene but will need to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

The RCMP Central Traffic Services are continuing to investigate the incident, which serves as a reminder of their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure road safety. The combination of speeding and drug impairment is a dangerous mix, and such operations help to prevent potential harm to the community and other drivers on the road. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or vehicles that may be involved in drug-related crimes.
