The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) is one of Canada's most competitive awards for graduate students. It is granted to both Canadian and international doctoral candidates through three federal research funding bodies: - the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) - the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) - the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) This year's awards will be the last round of the Vanier CGS in its current format before the program transitions to a unified scholarship framework. "UCalgary is proud to maintain its status as Canada's youngest leading research university, celebrated nationwide for its innovative discoveries and dynamic graduate community," remarks Dr. Tara Beattie, vice-provost and dean of graduate studies.

"Our Vanier Scholars are a testament to the excellence that defines our institution, receiving essential funding alongside national accolades for their remarkable research, academic achievements, and leadership. Their accomplishments highlight the outstanding training environment at UCalgary, where graduate students are encouraged to make significant contributions to society."
