Nigerians protesting the shortage of fuel flooded Abuja on Monday.

In an effort to raise awareness of the fuel shortage in the nation and pressure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's federal government to take action, the Coalition of Concerned Civil Society Organizations of Nigeria organized protests.

At a gathering on Monday at the Abuja Unity Fountain, the group's convener, Comrade Aminu Abbas, accused Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), of being responsible for the regrettable event.

A few of the statements on the signs said things like, "We want accountability in the affairs of NNPCL," "We are tired of hearing stories about our refineries," and "No direction, Kyari is just drifting with the wind."

The coalition, while criticizing the status of the refineries' decay and accusing them of sabotaging nearby refineries, said that things had become worse and worse with no end in sight.

"Why must we, the people, put up with never-ending lines, exorbitant costs, and the constant worry of being able to power our houses or buy gas for our cars? The blatant ineptitude and poor management are the cause.

"What has Kyari done to help ease this issue, we wonder? Where are the answers located? Why are our refineries still in such poor condition when they ought to be the foundation of our gasoline supply?

"The history of our country is at a turning point. The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu gives our nation a fresh start, a route to wealth, and safety for every Nigerian.
