Bobby Sherman, the beloved teen idol of the 1960s known for his hit song Little Woman, has passed away at the age of 81 following a battle with cancer.

In the 1970s, Sherman largely stepped back from the entertainment scene but maintained a loyal fanbase throughout the years.

His wife, Brigitte Poublon, tragically announced in March that her husband had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

By early April, she revealed that his body was 'shutting down' and that he was 'at home with special care' after a hospital stay.

A longtime friend has now disclosed that Sherman succumbed to his illness on Tuesday morning at his home in the Los Angeles suburb of Encino, as reported by TMZ.

In a statement shared on Instagram by Sherman's friend John Stamos, Poublon expressed that her husband 'left this world holding my hand.'
