The first incident occurred in a southwest Calgary neighborhood where a metal box containing dynamite was found during a home cleaning. As a precaution, the Calgary Police Service's bomb unit was called to the scene on Woodview Crescent S.W. to safely handle the situation. The dynamite was identified after four-and-a-half hours of investigation, and the area remained evacuated until 7 p.m.

The second incident took place in Weaselhead Flats Natural Environment Park, where an individual with a metal detector discovered what appeared to be a Second World War explosive device. The area was secured and evacuated until the bomb unit could assess the situation. Later in the day, it was determined that the device was inert, meaning it did not contain any live explosive material and was only a casing. Following the removal of the item, the park was reopened to the public. Both incidents were covered by CTV Calgary, with updates provided by reporter Stephen Hunt.
