Pm Carney convened the Incident Response Group to tackle the worsening wildfire

Today, I convened the Incident Response Group to tackle the worsening wildfire crisis across the nation.

We have deployed personnel from the Canadian Armed Forces to assist with air evacuations in Manitoba, particularly in the Mathias Colomb Cree Nation community.

The Government of Canada will match donations made to the Red Cross for these affected areas, and we are collaborating with provincial authorities and Indigenous leaders to ensure the safety of impacted Canadians.

The magnitude and intricacy of these air evacuations are significant, as is the steadfast commitment of the teams carrying them out.

To all those on the front lines combating these wildfires: thank you. Canada is prepared to mobilize further assistance wherever it is required.
