On May 26, 2025, two EF1 tornadoes caused damage in the rural area northeast of Edmonton.

The tornadoes occurred during a severe thunderstorm that affected Alberta. The first tornado struck near Atmore, causing significant damage to a home's roof and downing numerous trees. The second tornado touched down near Avenir, contributing to the overall destruction in the region. The storms began in the Alberta foothills and moved across the Prairies, impacting the Plamondon area. Western University's Northern Tornadoes Project surveyed the damage, estimating the tornadoes' paths at 300 meters wide and 21 kilometers long, with wind speeds reaching approximately 175 km/h. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. According to Global News report.
