He was welcomed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other high-ranking officials from Lagos State. The celebration of the regional bloc's golden jubilee began in Accra last month and will continue with events in Lagos including the re-enactment of the 1975 declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotels and Suites. General Yakubu Gowon, the only surviving Head of State who signed the ECOWAS declaration, will participate in the ceremonies and deliver a speech. During his visit, President Tinubu will also virtually commission various projects such as the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road and the flag-off of the Kano Northern By-pass, Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai Section I, Dabai-Kafur Malumfashi, and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Dayi Section III. Additionally, he will physically commission the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Tax Credit Concrete Road and Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The President is expected to return to Abuja after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House in Dodan Barracks.
