The 79-year-old leader is now resting at the official presidential residence in Brasilia. This is not the first health scare for Lula, who has a history of medical issues including a fall that resulted in a concussion and a brain bleed in 2025, for which he underwent emergency surgery.

He has also dealt with hypertension and throat cancer in the past. Despite these health concerns, Lula is expected to run for reelection next year.
