Prime Minister Carney expressed profound sorrow and outrage over the murder of two young Israeli embassy staff members in Washington, D.C.

This incident represents a deliberate assault on the Jewish community and constitutes a violent act of antisemitism. Such hatred is unacceptable, and I denounce it in the strongest possible terms. My thoughts are with Yaron and Sarah, their mourning families, and the entire Jewish community. We must confront the reality of antisemitism and its radicalization. It is imperative that we take action to ensure the safety of Jewish Canadians. Accordingly, the new Canadian government will combat the alarming increase in hate and safeguard our communities. We will enhance funding for the Canada Community Security Program and propose legislation that criminalizes the intentional and willful obstruction of access to places of worship, schools, and community centers, as well as the willful intimidation or threats directed at individuals attending services at these venues.
