Gov-G official visit to Sri Lanka highlighted the connections between 2 nations

The recent official visit of the Governor-General to Sri Lanka served as a testament to the enduring bond between the two nations, which has been nurtured over nearly eight decades. The visit highlighted the profound connections that exist between Australia and Sri Lanka, encompassing the vibrant Sri Lankan diaspora in Australia, thriving partnerships in education, cooperation in defence and maritime security, and a robust trade and investment relationship.

At the esteemed Australia House, a reception was hosted by Australia's High Commissioner, Paul Stephens, to facilitate a meeting between the Governor-General and a distinguished gathering of individuals. This included members of the Sri Lankan parliament, senior ministers, the diplomatic corps, influential business leaders, and Australians engaged in various sectors in Sri Lanka. The occasion provided an opportune platform for the exchange of ideas and the reiteration of mutual commitments.

The Governor-General took the opportunity to express her sincere gratitude to those present for their concerted efforts in enhancing the partnership between Australia and Sri Lanka across a range of domains, including government, business, trade, development, defence, security, diplomacy, and education.
