A 23-year-old male was receiving treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries inflicted by a machete and was subsequently airlifted to Winnipeg for further care, where he is currently in stable condition. During their preliminary investigation, officers identified two male suspects who were arrested at the scene without incident. The victim and the suspects were acquaintances.

Philip Swanson, 23, from Thompson, and a 17-year-old male from Split Lake are both charged with Aggravated Assault, with the youth also facing two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation. The Thompson RCMP is continuing its investigation.
