Nigeria Customs Service Generates ₦190bn and Confiscates ₦10.2bn in Contraband During Q1 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service, Area 2 Command located in Onne, Rivers State, reported a revenue generation exceeding ₦190.5 billion for the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a 17.12% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024.

Comptroller Mohammed Babandede revealed that customs officials seized 20 containers of contraband, with a total value of ₦10.2 billion, and facilitated the export of goods worth ₦2.3 billion, primarily consisting of agricultural products and solid minerals.

He cautioned against smuggling activities, emphasizing that violators would face legal repercussions, and reiterated the agency's dedication to fostering economic development and ensuring national security.
