In a major advancement aimed at enhancing military public relations, the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its Strategic Communication Course. This development was revealed by the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde, during the inauguration ceremony for the Second Quarter 2025 Courses, held at the Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Giri-Abuja. Lt. Col. Ngulde indicated that participants will receive training in AI-driven information management and fact-checking, in response to the evolving complexities of modern communication and warfare.

He highlighted the critical role of Strategic Communication in shaping military narratives, combating misinformation, and promoting national interests in both peace and conflict situations. To enhance the curriculum, NASPRI is collaborating with the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Abuja and Prof. Ishaq Oyebisi Oyefolahan, a Research Professor at the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL). These partnerships are designed to provide participants with innovative insights and research-supported strategies in the field.

Additionally, the Acting Commandant spoke to those enrolled in the A1 Photojournalism Course, underscoring the significance of visual storytelling in military reporting. He emphasized that high-quality photojournalism and effective graphic design are essential tools for engaging the public and bolstering morale. Lt. Col. Ngulde expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, for his unwavering support of NASPRI and the Directorate of Army Public Relations. He also acknowledged the contributions of Commander TRADOC NA, Maj Gen Kelvin Aligbe, and the Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen AS Ndalolo, whose efforts have been crucial in upholding the school's high training standards. Earlier in the ceremony, NASPRI's Acting Chief Instructor, Major Tonye Wenke, outlined course expectations, stressing the importance of the training for career advancement and operational readiness in the context of 5th Generation Warfare.
He encouraged students to adapt swiftly, maintain discipline, and fully engage in the intensive academic and practical sessions. A total of 76 students are participating in the second quarter courses, including 16 senior officers in the Strategic Communication Course, along with attendees in the A1 Photojournalism and X3 Graphic Design and Printing courses.
