The focus has shifted away from critical issues in health care, education, and social services, which are all under provincial jurisdiction.

Pierre Poilievre was so eager to initiate a carbon tax election that he felt compelled to oppose the industrial carbon tax, despite it being a provincial tax in the majority of provinces. One can anticipate an announcement indicating that Saskatchewan lacks the resources for child care, dental care, or pharmacare.

Danielle Smith has been photographed smiling alongside prominent Americans such as Donald Trump, Ben Shapiro, and Tucker Carlson, as well as with Canadian defector Kevin O'Leary and Jordan Peterson, who, despite his professed love for Canada, has relocated to the United States.

There are also unflattering images of her with the perpetually cheerful Justin Trudeau, yet no photographs appear to exist with Mark Carney.

Conservatives like Stephen Harper, Jason Kenney, and Doug Ford have firmly identified themselves as Canadians. In contrast, Scott Moe and Danielle Smith seem to align more closely with American Republicans than with their fellow Canadians.

Smith even cautioned her Republican associates that annexing Canada would be akin to incorporating another California filled with progressives.

It is regrettable if the criticism directed at the rest of Canada serves to divert attention from the troubling provincial budgets and issues in health and education. If Moe and Smith are promoting the idea that American Republicans are preferable allies compared to progressive Canadians, this presents a far more significant concern.
