The Conservative Party has appropriately committed to eliminating media subsidies. Although a detailed plan from the Conservatives is expected to be unveiled later in the campaign, the ongoing media bias favoring the Liberals underscores the urgency of terminating these subsidies. Such financial support fosters a media landscape that serves the government rather than holding it accountable.

In October 2019, just before an election, the CBC initiated legal action against the Conservative Party for utilizing clips in an online campaign advertisement. The lawsuit included notable figures such as The National co-host Rosemary Barton and parliamentary bureau reporter John Paul Tasker, in addition to the CBC itself.

Where is the public outrage today? Where are the legal challenges?

CBC Watcher on X stated:
"The CBC requires Carney's victory for its own survival. They must acknowledge this... the sooner, the better @brodiefenlon (General Manager & Editor-in-Chief, CBC News)."

Alan Fryer responded on X:
"It's not only the CBC. As Peter Menzies noted in The Hub: 'For the first time in the nation's history, nearly all media outlets covering an election have a direct, even existential, interest in the outcome.'"
