Calgary police have announced that a man is facing charges following an assault that was recorded on video at a train platform. The footage, which began circulating on a Calgary Reddit page over the weekend, appears to depict a man seizing a young woman by her jacket, shaking her forcefully, and slamming her against the walls of a transit shelter located at the City Hall/Bow Valley College Station. The assailant eventually left the scene, mingling with a crowd of onlookers.

In a statement released on social media, police reported that on Sunday at approximately 1:40 p.m., a woman was standing on the south side of the 3 Street SE CTrain station platform when an unknown man approached her. Investigators revealed that the man took her water bottle and splashed water in her face. He then violently shook her while demanding her phone, but ultimately fled the scene without taking it, allowing the woman to contact the police.
