Yesterday, the Governor-General participated in the School Volunteer Program at the Hedley Beare Centre for Teaching and Learning in Canberra to express gratitude to the volunteers and commemorate two decades of dedication to public school students in the ACT.

Two decades. Thousands of hours. Numerous instances of support. A profound influence on students' confidence, knowledge, curiosity—and most importantly, their overall happiness.

As the first Governor-General born in Canberra and educated in public schools, she holds a deep appreciation for the care, energy, experience, and selfless commitment that these volunteers contribute to enhancing the lives of young people.

Happy 20th Anniversary to the School Volunteer Program, and heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who continues to make a difference!
