Today, at the Council of the Federation meeting, we had an open and constructive discussion about how to address the unreasonable U.S. tariffs and the vital need to uphold provincial authority over local resources.

I remain committed to a diplomatic strategy when engaging with U.S. and state representatives. However, I will also take measured actions in response to any unjustified tariffs to safeguard the interests of Albertans.

It's becoming increasingly evident that American public sentiment, alongside industry leaders, is shifting against a prolonged trade conflict with Canada. Therefore, we must steer clear of escalation, focus on the bigger picture, and work towards achieving a trade resolution that benefits both our nations.
