Harvey Venus, 39, classified as a dangerous offender, possesses an extensive criminal record that includes charges of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, general assault, and sexual interference with a minor under the age of 16.

According to documents from the Parole Board of Canada, he engaged in inappropriate conduct with the victim and took photographs of her while reportedly using an alias due to his history of sexual offenses.

He is currently serving a sentence of nine months and 31 days at a community correctional center in Halifax for violating an eight-year long-term supervision order, which occurred just three months after his release to a community correctional center in Saint John in 2022.

Venus failed to disclose that he began a relationship with a woman who has a child, misrepresented his criminal background to her, and spent time alone with the child, in violation of the terms of his long-term supervision order.

He also has a record of violations during community supervision and a poor track record regarding conditional release.

His statutory release from his first federal sentence was revoked after he confessed to meeting a 14-year-old girl and purchasing rolling papers for her to use drugs.

In February 2024, his statutory release in Halifax was revoked within a month due to breaches of his conditions. Authorities discovered sexually explicit films in his room, learned of his undisclosed relationship with a female, and found that he had accessed the internet using a cellphone, as detailed in the parole documents.
