While hiking in the northern Indian Himalayas with a companion, a British tourist passed away. One of the two British men was gravely hurt while hiking in "extremely difficult terrain" close to the Thathri village in Dharamshala, according to local rescue services. After being saved and carried down the mountain on a stretcher, the guy was pronounced dead by the time he arrived at the hospital almost twenty-four hours later, according to rescuers. They were "supporting the family of a British man who has died in India and are in contact with the local authorities," according to the Foreign Office. The Times of India reported that the two were trekking the Triund trek, a well-traveled path of around 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) in the Dhauladhar mountain range's foothills. According to the newspaper, one of the men fell as they were descending, and his friend went to the neighbouring settlement for assistance. The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force, the local rescuers, reported on X that a team of ten individuals had been dispatched up the mountain to look for the guys after receiving a call for assistance at 18:00 on Sunday. "The team found the victims at 10:30 p.m. after four hours of trekking, with one trekker critically injured. Together with his fellow trekker, they strapped the critically ill hiker onto a stretcher and started the difficult descent.Progress was hampered by the difficult terrain and several torrent crossings incredibly slow, covering only 100 meters in almost two hours. According to reports, the two guys had hiked to Triund, a tiny hill station shown in the picture, and were descending when the injury occurred. More rescuers showed up in the morning after the team asked for backup over night. "They continued transporting the victims but faced extreme difficulty due to the steep landscape, requiring multiple anchorings of the stretcher." Rescuers noted that when the man was ultimately transported to the hospital on Monday at 17:08, he was pronounced dead. There was no danger to his acquaintance. Trekking in high-altitude regions was temporarily prohibited by the Kangra district's municipal government, however the two tourists were not aware of it, according to the Times of India. They had arrived at the snowline, which is the area of the mountain where snow covers the ground year-round, according to the report. The victim's identity has not yet been officially confirmed.
